ROME BY PLANE

THE DIRECT AND QUICKEST WAY

Rome is one of the best connected international cities in the world. There are two main airports in Rome: Rome Fiumicino international airport and Rome Ciampino low cost airport. Both are located outside the city and well connected to the city centre. The main one, Leonardo da Vinci, better known as Fiumicino Airport, is one of the best equipped airports in Europe, located 26 km (15 miles) southwest of Rome. Ciampino Airport, second to Fiumicino, is located 20 km (12 miles) southeast from the city, where most charter flights land.

Rome is in the heart of the European Rail Network and the key hub of the national network. Termini central railway station is the point of arrival and departure for almost all trains from Italy and abroad. The majority of public buses leaves from Termini to the different areas of the city and the two existing underground lines have their changing terminal there.

HOW TO GET TO THE VENUE

From Fiumicino Airport

by train:

Fiumicino-Rome
At the airport’s railway station the Shuttle-Train Leonardo Express direct service takes just 32 minutes to get to Termini railway station, in the city centre (intersecting with the Metro Lines A & B) and leaves every half hour from 6.38 a.m. to 11.38 p.m.

Rome–Fiumicino
To get to Fiumicino, the shuttle service leaves from Termini Station every half hour, from 5.50 a.m. until 10.50 p.m.
The ticket’s price is € 14 (one way) and it may be purchased at ticket office, from self-service machines, travel agents’, authorized vendors, Trenitalia counters near platforms and at www.trenitalia.com.

by bus:
The bus service is available from and to Termini railway station and it is provided from several companies. Tickets may be purchased also on board. Average cost:  € 6 – Journey time: 40 min.

by taxi:
It is possible to find Taxis for Rome at the exits of the arrival terminals. Fixed fares are set for journeys to/from Fiumicino airport to Rome city centre (within the Aurelian Walls) and vice versa: € 48 – Journey time: 30 min. For journeys to/from areas out of the Aurelian Walls, the taximeter fare is applied.

From Ciampino Airport

by train:

Ciampino railway station is reached by special buses, every 30 minutes, from Ciampino Airport. The bus traveling time is about 5 minutes (bus ticket costs € 1,20). The trains, which leave every 15 minutes, take 10 minutes to get to Rome Termini (Metro A & B). The price of a train ticket is € 1.50.

by bus:

The bus service  from Ciampino Airport is available from and to Termini railway station and it is provided from several companies. The tickets may be purchased also on board. Average cost:  € 6 – Journey time: 35 min.

by taxi:
Taxis for Rome stop in the small square in front of the airport itself. Fixed fares are set for journeys to/from Ciampino airport to Rome city centre (within the Aurelian Walls) and vice versa: € 30 – Journey time: 25 min. For journeys to/from areas out of the Aurelian Walls, the taximeter fare is applied.

 by metro:
Special buses connect Ciampino airport to the underground station of Anagnina (Metro A) with trains running to the city centre. Buses for Anagnina metro station leave from the square in front of the airport.

 

From Termini Train Station

you can easily reach Sapienza on foot. It is only a 15 minutes walk from the Termini Train Station. Otherwise, take bus n. 310 and get off at the “Università/Regina Elena” Stop.

From Tiburtina Train Station  

take bus n. 71 or n. 492 and get off at the “Verano/DeLollis” stop.

By Subway/Underground:

take the “B Line” Metro to the “Policlinico“ stop (750 mt)

Or to “Castro Pretorio” stop (1,1 km)
